Working at Aquila

We hire rarely and deliberately. The work is long-horizon and often far from home, and it rewards people who would rather finish something difficult than start something easy.

Aquila is small by design. Everyone here carries real responsibility on live projects, usually across several time zones and more than one institution. There is no bench and no shadowing period — you will own something within weeks.

The engagements run for years, not quarters. That suits people who take satisfaction in a handover done properly, and who are comfortable being measured on whether a project still stands after they step back.

Who tends to do well here

Judgement under incomplete information
The interesting decisions are made before the facts are all in. We look for people who can act without certainty and say plainly what they do not know.
Written clarity
Continuity is documentation. If a decision is not written down clearly enough for someone who was not in the room, it did not survive the meeting.
Comfort with other people's institutions
The work runs through counterparts who have their own mandates, constraints, and timelines. Progress comes from understanding those, not from routing around them.

No open roles right now

We are not recruiting for a specific position today. We do read everything that arrives, and when a role opens it usually goes to someone already known to us.

If the work described here is the work you want to be doing, write to us. Tell us what you have finished, not what you have been involved in — and where you would want to be based.
